Continental and United Airlines Are Merging
The merger between Continental and United has been in the works for a while. It will take place sometime in 2011, but you can make preparations now when it comes to their credit cards. Both airlines currently offer their own card, which includes benefits and bonus miles. Continental does not charge for the first bag when you use their card, while United will charge you no matter what.
You may lose some benefits at the merger, while gaining others. However if you get both airline credit cards, this also means you will also get both sign up bonuses. They will never be able to take away those miles, however at one point your frequent flyer accounts will be merged and that may be double the miles in one account. Apply today while you still have a choice between United, Continental, or both.
