Earning miles is a great incentive to apply for a credit card, but this feature usually means having to pay an annual fee. The Miles by Discover® Card comes with no annual fee, and also includes a lot of other benefits. Knowledge of all the details of this card could make your next vacation cheaper and more relaxing.

You start out by getting a sign up bonus of 12,000 miles, however it is credited to your account once per month in 1,000 mile increments and only in the month that shows card activity. These bonus miles will only be applied during the first 12 month, so a month of inactivity in this period means you will be missing out on part of the bonus.

There are also ways to accrue miles faster by using your card for certain transactions. When you make any restaurant or travel purchases you will earn 2 miles per dollar spent (up to $3,000 annually) and all other purchases will earn you 1 mile.

How to Redeem Miles

There is no rush to use the miles as they will never expire as long as you are a cardmember.
