Hotel promotions have been lackluster to say the least. Bonus points and special offers at 5 star hotels used to be manageable at least once a year, but so far in 2013 there really have been no good offers lately.
The La Quinta Returns Visa Card issued by First National Bank of Omaha has just launched a promotion for new cardholders offering up to 4 free nights at La Quinta Inn. This chain of hotels is far from being rated a 5 star, but on the other hand it is also a lot better than Motel 6 and Super 8. In a situation where free nights at 5 star hotels are unattainable, then 4 free nights at La Quinta may not be too bad instead of paying the full rate.
You must apply for the La Quinta Returns Visa Card and make a purchase to receive 20,000 bonus points. That is enough for the first 2 nights, which can be redeemed anywhere in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. The last 2 nights requires cardholders to spend $10,000 within the first 12 billing cycles before being credited with the remaining 20,000 bonus points.
This promotion is much better than anything seen from La Quinta previously. Even if cardholders do not manage to spend the entire $10,000, the first 2 nights are easily obtained and can be worth more than $200 depending on the location and dates for your redemption.
La Quinta Rewards Program
The La Quinta credit card is an addition to the free La Quinta Returns Member Rewards program, where you earn 10 points per $1 spent at La Quinta Hotels. Sign up for this program is available on the La Quinta website and is completely free. Credit card holders will receive additional 5 points per $1 spent. This means cardholders are earning 15 points per $1 dollar spent at La Quints hotels.
Anyone that stays at La Quinta Inn and Suites on a regular basis are going to see the points accumulating fast and being a credit cardholder only adds to that experience,
The credit card also earns cardholders 2 points on gas, car rentals, and dining. 1 point is earned on all other purchase made with the card.
You are not limited to using the points at La Quinta hotels. Points are redeemable for gift cards at various stores, including Amazon, Best Buy, Borders, and many more. The redemption is not as good as if you were to redeem for a free night, because 7,500 points only gets you a $25 gift card. You are far better off using the reward points for free nights. Your points will never expire as long as any activity is recorded within the last 18 months on your account.
